Vision Statement

BASC is a charitable organization dedicated to the nurture and promotion of Bengali and Indian culture, language, and religion for the Southern California community through educational, religious, and charitable activities.

Bengali Association of Southern California (BASC) is a US non-profit organization (Tax ID 95-3568482) dedicated to nurturing and promoting Bengali and Indian culture among Southern California residents. BASC runs two Bengali schools - Pathbhaban in San Fernando Valley area and Pathsala in Irvine area. BASC publishes a periodic e-newsletter, Sambad Bichitra; and two literary magazines - Kheya for grown-ups and Ankur for the children. BASC also organizes many cultural, social, philanthropic and religious events throughtout the year.

Photo exhibition, Hoppe’s Shantiniketan

Indic Foundation is pleased to invite you and your guest to the opening of the , on January 22, 2012, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Honnold Library of The Claremont Colleges, 800 North Columbia Avenue, Claremont, CA 91711.
These historic photographs were made in the fall of 1929 by world famous London based photographer E.O. Hoppé as part of his epic photo-documentation of the Indian subcontinent. During his travels throughout the region, Hoppé was invited to visit the Nobel Prize winning poet laureate, novelist, playwright, musician, and painter Rabindranath Tagore at Santiniketan the site of the poet’s university. The exhibition is curated by Pratapaditya Pal and Graham Howe. Further details on the exhibition are found at www.indic.org.
