BASC is a charitable organization dedicated to the nurture and promotion of Bengali and Indian culture, language, and religion for the Southern California community through educational, religious, and charitable activities.
BASC conducted successfully an Indo-Japanese multicultural Charity Concert Raagas in Reflection ,on Saturday 21st May, 2011, 6:30 PM-8:30 PM at Performing Arts Center (4640 Maine Av Baldwin Park CA 91706 Pasadena, California 91706)
All proceeds of this concert will go to East Japan Tsunami Relief

6:30 PM Hindusthani Classical Music by Mala Ramadorai with Debasish Chaudhuri on Tabla and Narendra Kulkarni on Harmonium.
Mala Ramadorai Versatile and multifaceted Mala Ramadorai is the student of the great master of Gwalior Gharana, Pt. Yeshwant Bua Joshi . Having had rigorous in the Carnatic style in her early years with Shri Ayyalore Krishnan, Mala went on to do her Masters in Hindustani Classical Music at the SNDT University. Her forte is Khayal Gayaki,with her mellifluous voice she explores the finer nuances of each melody integrating enough lyrical adornment to make it a listening experience.
8 PM Koshin Taiko - Japanese Drums Since 1992, Koshin Taiko -- the VJCC-based ensemble -- has trained young and old in the power, artistry and fun of taiko drumming. Currently, the group is composed of eighteen members, representing a wide age range and a diversity of experience with Japanese culture. What they share in common is their desire to become involved in an art form that triggers an innate and irresistible response to the "call of the drum." Koshin Taiko was created by and continues to be taught by Master Etsuo Hongo.
